If x/y + y/x= 2, what is y when x=sqrt(2)?

This is a MATHCOUNTS countdown question (to be solved in 40 seconds or less) and can be solved in that time frame if you see the trick. If I were to give you guys the correct answer as y=sqrt(2), does anyone see the most logical solution to this problem?

Well 1+1 is 2 so if both fractions are 1, it would work and any fraction divided by itself is 1 so y has to be sqrt(2)
